What Causes Constant Burps?
What may cause chronic burping? I am a paramedic and have just dropped a patient to an ER who had a complaint of burping for approximately 1 week, getting worse over the last 12-14 hours. I remember learning something about chronic burping but have forgotten the cause. Thank you.

There are three possible causes here--
1) GERD--gastric reflux disorder
2) An H pylori bacterial infection of the stomach
3) Gastroparesis--poorly emptying stomach
To determine the cause it would take an H pylori breath or blood test and upper endoscopy
