Hello When I m up and walking around my feet are warm and okay, and are as warm as the rest of my body when I go to bed, but as soon as I lay down my feet feel like they are freezing, and they is nothing that I can do to stop that except get up and walk around, so I m puzzled as to what causes this and how I can stop it, thanks. General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Yes, this is a problem which one can encounter as the personages. There can be various reasons for it which include medical as well as non-medical reasons. Non-medical reasons include.

As you age the elasticity of blood vessels gets changed resulting in low blood circulation. The fat layer under the skin gets reduced resulting in feeling more cold.

With age metabolic response of the body towards cold gets slowed down. Medical reasons are.

Diabetes and hypertension. Use of drugs like beta blockers and calcium channel blockers for hypertension. High cholesterol.

Hypothyroidism. I would advise you to consult your doctor and get investigated and if there is some deficiency somewhere, get it treated.

In your case, it could be because of both medical as well as non-medical reasons, because of you being hypertensive as well as your age.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
