What Causes Clear Liquid Discharge From The Re-grown Toe Nails?

I had both big tor ingrown toenails operated on about 6 years ago. Last year after wearing heels 1 night my big toes were numb for few days and over course of 2months my nails went black & fell off. They re-grew and at Christmas i wore herls again & the same seems to be happening although this time the nail is oozing clear sticky liquid. Is this serious or just a normal process? Thanks

Hi,
Thanks for using healthcaremagic.com
I have gone through your query and i can understand your concerns.

Probable diagnosis :paronychia
Plan of treatment : Incision and drainage
Outcome : Excellent

It seems that you have a clinical condition called "paronychia".Its nothing but a kind of skin infection around your toenails. It is caused by bacterial or fungal infection. Its a very common problem in general population and nothing to worry in it.It is a highly curable condition and chances for complication is very less.
As a treating physician I would suggest a short course of antibiotics as a first line therapy.generally ampiclox and clindamycin are the proffered antibiotics.
If you have pain, please take analgesics like aspirin or diclofenac.
If there is collection of pus I&D(Incision and Drainage )is required. It is done to remove all pus and debris of the areaA general practitioner would do it under local local anesthesia.
You can try these simple measures to prevent paronychia.
Avoid ill fitting footwear
Treat ingrowing toenails.
keep your feet clean every time.
Avoid unnecessary manicure.

Hope I answered your query.
Wishing you good health.

Regards.
