What Causes Clear Fluid Filled Bumps On The Skin?

I have several small (dime size) and some larger (Nickel sixe) skin bumps with clear liquid that when scraped ooze and ooze liquid and makes my bed very wet in the area it s draining at. I keep patting the area with gauze or tissue to absorb the liquid but it just keeps leaking. Any ideads what they are and how to treat them?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I believe the fluid-filled bumps are due to an immune-mediated skin condition known as Bullous pemphigoid, where our own body attacks our skin. The chances of this condition to occur increases with advancing age. I would suggest you not to prick them at home as that may lead to infection, instead you must see a doctor will use a sterile needle to drain it for you.

At the doctor, a biopsy of the skin may be needed to confirm the diagnosis and treatment involves the use of steroids and/or antibiotics. If left untreated the chances of infections spreading through the blister into the body are very high and may even lead to sepsis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
