My name is Jackson and I keep getting these pains in my legs mainly my right leg. When it happens my leg goes some what numb. I can still move it, but I can feel my leg muscle when I flex it. Then a great pain comes. It stays for a day sometimes 2 days. And it comes back. It been a while since I got this last, but the thing is. Every time it goes away and then comes back, it comes back worse then it was the first time.

Dear Jackson,

Your condition may be due to sciatic Nerve irritation if includes almost the whole thigh and goes down or it may be due to Miralgia Paresthetica if it is located in the outer part of the leg.

In both case, you should understand that this is a chronic disease that comes and go and normally it is kept under control with drugs such as aspirin, ibuprofen taken after meal 4-5 times a day, combined with a ketoprophene cream in the area that hurts.

Usually patients prefer hot patches or cubes of ice to be putten in the leg at home or they go with a physiotherapist and exercise to alleviate the pain.

Please do not wear tight clothes and do not stress the muscles.

The pain originates from the medulla spinale nerves, so in this cases a xray of the lumbal zone of the colona vertebrales is done to check the situation of the bones there, because a nerve suppression by the lumbal bones may be the origine of the pain and in this case surgery may be taken in consideration.

Remember that many people live with this condition and that this is very frequent among adults.

All the best,
Dr. Eni
