Brief Answer:
Simple inflammation/infection/candidiasis, nothing to worry about

Detailed Answer:
Hi, There is nothing bad to feel embarrassed for. You might be having a simple infection which is common and almost everyone experiences it somewhere in their life.

You might be having a fungal infection which is also known as Thrush or candidiasis. This causes irritation and soreness. As you mentioned you take daily shower and there might be no issue of cleanliness, make sure if you get your genitals properly dried after taking the bath with clean and fresh towel. In case, you can take some over-the-counter anti-fungal drugs and some topical steroids to relieve pain and soreness.

Let me know if you have any further queries, I will be happy to help.
