General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You have a history of chronic hiccups. It can be indicative of some serious medical problem that has been left untreated because you have neglected to get thoroughly checked up.

Lifestyle changes can help you control the hiccups, assess what triggers hiccups. Some food (hot/spicy/dairy products) may trigger hiccup, avoid it.

Drinks (sodas, alcohol, etc.), extremes of emotional stress, overeating may initiate gas in the stomach to press the diaphragm to cause hiccups.

Medications effectively control hiccups, Baclofen-a muscle relaxant, gabapentin, chlorpromazine, metoclopramide can be taken under your treating doctor.

Get physically examined & assessed, your treating doctor may suggest surgery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
