What Causes Chronic Headaches Along With Dizziness While On Seizure Medication?

Hi, I take medicine for seizures but everyday I suffer from horrible headaches, dizzy, and numbness in my fingers. Can I be suffering from something else and the seizure be the symptom? I have a neurologist and see him regularly but he has told me that my case is special and will probably have an issue with medications and will not be able to feel better. I am not looking to be cured just live better. Where do I start?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have chronic headaches along with dizziness while on seizure medication which is caused by inflammation within the inner ear sometimes due to infection , meniere's disease , benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, acoustic neuroma , sinusitis and multiple sclerosis . There can be other reasons also like low blood sugar and low iron level . I suggest you to consult with ENT specialist for proper checkup so that there will not be any further complication . Doctor may order certain test like CT scan , MRI , blood test , audiometry test , rotatory chair test and ECG to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe anti emetic drug , sedatives , antibiotics , decongestants ,drain sinus and some ear aid. For now avoid bending forward , take steam , drink ginger tea thrice a day and do light exercises daily like meditation and yoga . In some cases doctor may also prescribe supplement like ginkgo biloba. Also take healthy diet like fresh fruits and green vegetables .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
