What Causes Chronic Headache And Depression Along With Nausea?

I have a friend (33yrs old) who is experiencing these symptoms: migraines with her period, chronic headaches, depression, loss of sex drive, nausea and tiredness despite getting enough sleep. The only thing I have found is that it could be a type of pituitary adorns or carcinoma. What else might it be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Pituitary tumors can cause headaches which are also associated with other symptoms like vision changes or changes related to the hormone dysfunction of the pituitary gland. It is generally a very rare condition and other more common conditions should be suspected first.

Depression may explain almost all the symptoms she is experiencing. She will need a good physical examination to rule out more important causes, even the pituitary problems and then be treated for depression.

If the doctor, after examining her is not suspecting much other causes might start with treatment for depression right away.
On the other hand having a TSH test to rule out thyroid problems might be advisable as it is a simple test and thyroid does affect the way we handle stress and might play a role in depression.

I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
