What Causes Chronic Constipation Despite Taking Miralax And Milk Of Magnesia?

I am having severe constipation today,,,, I took a dose of Miralax last night, this morning a cup of warm prune juice, milk of magnesia at 11 am. Also used the treadmill to loosen things up.... On Thursday the Dr told me to take miralax, have taken it Thurs. and Friday. My stool on Friday was like a rock... can you help me??

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of chronic constipation despite taking Miralax and Milk of magnesia which can occur due to many reasons and it is extremely important to find out the exact cause. Need not to worry. I would advise you to consult a physician or gastroenterologist and get examination done like complete blood count, stool examination, ultrasound scan of abdomen, colonoscopy & contrast studies. You should start treatment after complete examination. Doctor may prescribe you traditional drugs like lactulose, milk of magnesia and cremaffin or bisacodyl tablets. You should take plenty of fluids and diet rich in laxatives. Drink one spoon of honey in warm water daily . This will be really helpful. You should take diet rich in fibres.
