What Causes Chronic Constipation After Back Surgery?

I had 2 rounds of bowl prep for a colonoscopy and did not get adequately cleaned out. i have chronic constipation following back surgery and each time I do the prep I n ever get adequately cleaned out so thiss time the doctor says he will schedule a gastrografin study. Could you tell me what this involves

Gastrografin is a dye study in which your gastrointestinal structures can be visualised following intake of dye either through mouth or through rectum as an enema.Following ingestion , radio graphic scan is carried out to watch the flow of dye inside your gut.
You should take nothing by mouth 8 hours prior to test.
