What Causes Choking Up On Food?

I keep choking on food. I have choked on crackers, had choked on carafate pills so I had to switch to liquid, and choked on pound cake today. What is going on? I have GERD and gastroparesis, but am on meds for both of them. This choking thing is kind of scaring me.

Hello,

Ok, cannot say in your particular case, but generally, gastroparesis causes food to not move in the right direction. This can further lead to scarring of the oesophagus which will keep food from going down.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
