What Causes Chills Post Withdrawal Of Clomipramine Tablets?

my son has been experiencing chills without a fever lately. He is 18 and fairly healthy. He runs a couple of miles 2x per week. He does drink a lot of coffee and his sleep hours are irregular though he does sleep a lot. He recently stopped taking his clomipramine an anti- depressant that he had been on for years for symptoms related to his tourette syndrome. Any ideas what the chills may be related to?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The chills and fever does not seem to be related to withdrawal of Clomipramine tablets. These symptoms can be related to an infection. I suggest using an anti-inflammatory medication such as Acetaminophen to relieve the chills and fever. If the symptoms continue, he may need a physical examination.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
