What Causes Chills And Fever While On Advil?

HI. My husband started feeling sick about two hours ago. He is 82 and has IPF, but it is not severe. He is not on oxygen. He has a fever of 100.6F and serious chills. I gave him 3 Advil 25 minutes ago and he is not shaking so much now. My question is should I take him to the emergency room. This is very unusual for him.

This could be a viral illness or a bacterial infection.
If he is feeling better with adequate oral intake and no other symptoms, can continue to watch for few hours to a day.
If you have an access to his primary MD, try to make an appojntment with him sooner.
If he has high grade fever or not looking good with poor intake, need to seek immediate medical attention.
