What Causes Chest Tightness And Nausea While On Linezolid For Back Infection?

My mother has just stop vancomycin after 5 weeks for a back infection. Her kidneys were being affected. She has also been taking levocoflaxin!. Now they gave her lineozid and had a severe reaction, chest tightness and nausea. How will we know if the infection is gone or will com back? MRI did not tell what type it vwas and the disk biopsy came back inconclusive. A severe compression fracture of L1 started in June and the infection showed on the MRI in L3 and 4 . she had an MRI in July and one month later still showed signs for infection L3 and 4. That is when they started treatment Thx lutomczak@rogers.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is unlikely related to linezolid. As a first line management you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief. If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
