What Causes Chest Pain?

Hi. I am 54 years old with high blood pressure. I am on Benicar. I saw a heart specialist for pain in chest yesterday. He did a stress test and EKG and said I was fine. However, my chest hurst very badly. I have long hiccups. It gets really bad when I raise my hand to drive or type, etc. Pain is very bad. What can it be?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

IF the pain is particularly severe when you raise your hand or drive, it implies that the pain is musculoskeletal in origin.

The stress test and ECG would have been able to identify any changes in the heart that would have been contributing to your pain.

You may want to consider the use of anti inflammatory pain killers. This includes medications such as ibuprofen, naproxen, cataflam.

I hope this helps

Hello,
Thank you for trusting HCM.
Costochondritis might be the problem, which can cause pain in the chest and upon moving the hands, NSAIDS like (ibuprufen) will help relieve the pain. please make sure you take the medication under medical supervision.
hope that helped.

HI

Very thanks for posting your query in HCM .

Chest pain could be due to problems in Heart , Lungs , Lung coverings ( Pleura ) , Muscular problems , Hyper acidity or Nerve compression at neck Level .

Since Stress test and EKG is normal it's unlikely due to heart. As per your complaints I feel the cause of your chest pain is Nerve compression at neck Level , it's called as Cervical RAdiculopathy .

Kindly get MRI cervical Spine for confirmation of diagnosis and to know the severity .

Also do slow rotational neck exercise .

Revert back to me with reports .
