What Causes Chest Pain Radiating To The Neck And Jaw?

I can t sleep because of pain (feels like a muscle cramping?) in my right chest area. Pain also extends to my right side of my neck and my jaw. I took an advil an hour ago and got no relief, so I took another one 20 minutes ago and now the pain is subsiding as I am sitting in my (professional grade) massage chair. I think the massage chair is working out stiffness in my back that is helping to release pain in my chest?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Chest pain associated with pain in the neck & jaw is commonly due to blockage of blood flow to the heart muscles, angina or any developing coronary artery disease. Sometimes if you have a history of COPD, it may be due to pulmonary embolism, pneumothorax, infection or pleuritic chest pain, etc. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP, get your cardiac & general check up done to detect any pathology in the lungs or heart causing the discomfort. Get all blood & imaging tests done. Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
