What Causes Chest Infection Along With Coughing Up Of Green Phlegm?

Hi, i was given antibiotics for tonsillitis last Monday, they took bloods and my CRP level was up to 69. Since then i ve developed a really bad chest infection with brown/green/bloody phelm which is lying around my chest and i an almost permanently coughing my guts up (to vomiting point) . I m on penicillin but i m really wheezy and feel asthmatic. I m as weak as a kitten and really shaky, i don t think i have a temp but to be honest i m away with the fairies at the moment with this. I have a past history of pleurisy and suspected Pneumonia and this feels like the latter again, although it s been a few years. Do i make an emergency appt with my dr tomorrow or do i just stay warm and wait? I m female, 46, and i have MS as well. Thanks Nicola Fraser

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Coughing up of green or rusty sputum is suggestive of lower respiratory tract infection.
I suggest you get culture and antibiotic sensitivity of the sputum to isolate the infectious agent in sputum and to identify most suitable antibiotic effective against the infectious agent in sputum.
A past history of pleurisy or pneumonia in past raises the possibility of recurrence of infection.
I suggest you to consult your physician at the earliest for clinical assessment and culture of the sputum for prompt treatment.

Thanks and take care
