What Causes Chest Discomfort In A Person With Myocardial Infarction Of Coronary Artery?

I have been diagnosed with myocardioinfarcture of one coronay artery feeding the bottom tip of my heart. This small section has died. I m told fixing the artery isn t necessary because the section is dead and feeding it more blood would be pointless. I have chest discomfort, shortness of breath, dizziness and nausea all the time with occasional vomiting. Should I go to the local emergency room ? Thanks. Charles.

Hi,

Chest discomfort, shortness of breath, dizziness, and nausea are common symptoms of a myocardial infarction, also known as a heart attack. This occurs when there is a blockage in one or more coronary arteries, which supply blood to the heart muscle. In your case, one of the coronary arteries feeding the bottom tip of your heart is blocked, resulting in a small section of your heart muscle not getting enough oxygen and nutrients.

It is essential to seek medical attention immediately if you are experiencing these symptoms, even if the blocked artery is not causing a significant problem because another coronary artery can be blocked. It would be best if you went to the local emergency room or called 911.

It is important to follow the treatment plan recommended by your doctor, which may include medications to manage symptoms, lifestyle changes, and follow-up care.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
