What Causes Chest Congestion, Cough And Fever Post Colonoscopy?

I had a Colonoscopy on Thursday and woke up congested and coughing. Since to test I am continuing with the symptoms...with chills and weakness. I did experience a fever of 103.7 but was improved to 95 then 98 which is where my temperature remains. I think i may have experienced a reaction to Profonol due to the metallic taste produced with my cough. What are your thoughts? My doctor said it can t be the anesthesia.....I disagree.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Any kind of trauma has the potential to cause fever due to the body's inflammatory reaction but would not normally cause the chills and weakness.

Propofol can be associated with potential side effects like all medication but it is not normally associated with chills and weakness. This may indicate that you are developing an infection.

I hope this helps
