What Causes Chest Congestion And Shortness Of Breath While On Zithromax?

I have has a cold now for some time started off as a simple sore throat however, it does not seem to be getting better. Worse in fact. Saw a doctor and she gave me zithromax which doesn't seem to be doing anything. It no feels like my chest is conjested and I constantly feel like I'm not getting enough air. She had said my lungs were clear at the time. Is it possible the cold has now spread into my lungs?

As per your query it seems like you have Upper respiratory tract infection which is commonly known as Common Cold and it is most commonly viral in nature while at times it can be due to secondary bacterial infection along with viral..
As Zithromax is not working it is due to viral nature of infection while Zithromax [azithromycin ] is antibiotic and active against bacteria..

Nothing to worry, continue taking Azithromycin and along with it take anti-inflammatory medicines like Aleve or Ibuprofen.
Do steam inhalations 2 times a day with few drops of Eucalyptus oil in boiling water.
Take decongestants like Pseudoephadrine and mucolytics like Bromohexine..
Do warm saline gargles.
Chew Vitamin C pellet daily.
Take ample of rest and drink plenty of water..

You will get relieved in a week and if no improvemment consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated..
