Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
At 74 years my mother has been diagnosed with central core disease, she has been on statins, blood pressure and drinks minimum two bottles of champagne a day also she has osteoporosis and liver disease, because of the late onset of this disease does this mean it is hereditary
Most cases are inherited as autosomal dominant trait and associated with nonprogressive muscle disease and a favorable prognosis.
There is no cure for this disease. Treatment is directed toward the specific symptoms that are apparent in each individual as you have mentioned. She may be at risk for Malignant hyperthermia (sudden severe increase in body temperature, muscle rigidity, hypertension altered level of consciousness) when exposed to certain general anesthetics or muscle relaxants. So, these drugs should not be given to her.
Hope this answers your query.
