Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I'm 60 years of age. All EKGs that I have had show normal. Cholestoral level 117. Lately, every once in a while, I get a "hollow' feeling in my chest and it feels like my heart skips a beat. I also have the urge to "burp" when this happens and after burping the feeling subsides. Any clues?
It may be caused by some type of arrhythmias, which called extrasystoly. In this case from time to time heart contracts prematurely, and you have such complaints, if it is not frequent than 30 in an hour, nothing to worry, as small amount of premature beats may happen in healthy adults. If it is more frequent, then I would advise you to undergo 24 hour ECG monitoring (holter test).
Take care
