What Causes Burning Type Chest Pain With Dry Cough?

I have a burning feeling type pain in my chest when I breath in and am having some difficulty breathing. Recently, I could not breath and my husband took me in to the emergency room and I was prescribed an inhaler and that was about it. Should I be concerned? I am also coughing a lot, but it is a dry cough... nothing coming up. I do not have a cold or anything of that sort and have been tested for asthma in the past.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
Since you are having
1. Breathing difficulty
2. Continuous dry coughing
3. Improved with inhalers, so we need to rule out asthma and bronchitis first in your case.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done
1. Chest x ray
2. PFT (pulmonary function test)
Chest x ray is needed to rule out lung infection.
PFT is needed to rule out asthma and bronchitis. This will also tell you about severity of the disease. And treatment is based on severity only.
So better to first diagnose yourself and then start appropriate treatment.
Don't worry you will be alright.
