Hi, Doctor has examined me and I have fungal infection at my vaginal area. Has prescribed a mixture of beprosalic ointment and candid b cream. However, it either gives a burning sensation or makes it very itchy after that. Is that normal? It s very itchy at night till I can t sleep. The itchiness very slowly subside after almost an hour. Please help. Currently not having intercourse with my partner as I don t want to infect him. Thanks.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Probably you are suffering from vaginal candiasis for which your treating physician as prescribed you medicines.

Intense itch is very common in fungal infection. salisylic acid also causes burning sensation, which lasts a few minutes only.

complete the course of medications and by end of the treatment you will be all fine.

Practicing good hygiene and having good nutritious diet will cut short the duration of treatment.

Hope this was helpful to you.

Thanks
