What Causes Burning Sensation In The Tongue And Lips?

The tip of my tongue at first felt as if it was burned by has become raw and now the inside of my lips feel raw and painful when I eat or drink anything. I have also been awakened every night since this started by an extremely dry throat, it's as if I don't have enough saliva to moisten it and I have to drink massive amounts of water to moisten it. I have also noted that my mouth is closed when I awake from the dry throat and my lips are almost glued shut.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain the symptoms of burnt feeling of the tongue tip along with feeling raw on the inner side of lips and tongue with dry throat and sticking of lips are all appearing to be caused due to dry mouth or Xerostomia leading to Apthous stomatitis that is inflammation of mucosa inside mouth..
Dry mouth can occur due to a number of causes like salivary gland disorders, oral infections like thrush, side effects of medicines, mouthbreathing etc..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations as per suspected cause can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
As of now chew sugarfree chewing gums, gargle with specialized mouthwash like Biotene formulated for dry mouth patients, instil artificial saliva drops, gargle with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine..
Drink plenty of water..
