General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Burning pain is likely neuralgia which is nerve related pain.

There are different possible causes such as: (1) trauma to the nerves supplying that area
(2)diabetes
(3)vitamin b12 or folic acid deficiency
(4)liver or kidney disease
(5)side effect of medication
(6)infections such as shingles
(7)exposure to toxins
(8)idiopathic- cause is not known
(9)hormonal or autoimmune causes

Blood tests for vitamin b12 or folate, screening for diabetes, liver or kidney function tests would help to determine the cause.

I hope this helps
