Hi doctor I have recently shared a glass with someone who I do not know and over the past couple of days have experienced a burn in my lips. I went to the e.r and they claimed it was just my braces rubbing against my lips but I only have them on the upper portion of my mouth and the bottom lip burns as well
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns...
As per your complain it seems like allergic reaction to any lip cosmetics or any food or medicine or any unknown allergen present in air.. If it would be due to rubbing with the braces there might be some laceration on the inner side of lips.. You should consult an Allergist and get evaluated. He/she can advise you to take anti allergics like Levocetrizine or Fexofenadine (Allegra) for relief.. Do cold compresses.. Avoid using any chemical containing lip or face cosmetics.. You can apply cooled Aloevera gel by placing in refrigerator.. Avoid hot and spicy food..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
