What Causes Burning Pain In Thigh?

Hi, I have a burning pain on my right thigh that does not go away. It is definitely nerve pain. There are no blisters or open wounds. I usually sleep on my right side, but if I accidently roll over on that side, the pain immediately awakens me. Lidocaine patches do not relieve the pain. Is it possible that this could be the start of shingles and if not, what other possibilities might exist. I am a diabetic with neuropathy, but this is totally new an driving me crazy. I had chickenpox in my teens and have not had the shot for shingles. Can you steer me in the right direction? Thanks.

dear friend
the character of the pain that you are describing does match to neuropathic pain. in addition if you are a diabetic and have neuropathy it is more likely so.

are you on any medication like pregabalin with alpha lipoic acid ot epalrestat for your neuropathy. what is your current blood sugar levels and what is you Hb A1 c percentage please share so that we can suggest some more solutions to you.
chances of having shingles also cant be ruled out but if the issue has been persistant for some time and no erruptions have taken place it is not likely to be shingles
