What Causes Burning And Itching Sensation On Outer Thigh?
I have a burning, itchy, painful sensation on my outer right thigh on the front and the sides. I have been prescribed prednisone and a muscle relaxer ad a pain reliever. I have been doing this for for days now and pain has not gone away or anything. I was diagnosed with bursitis or tedonitis. Do i need to get a secod opinion? The hospital said it may be a pinched nerve but the xray showed that the bones were good.
Dear patient Considering your case you are having symptoms of meralgia parenthetica. It's conditions in which compression of lateral cutaneous nerve of thigh at lateral aspect of groin leads to pain and paresthesia in anterior and lateral aspect of upper thigh. Usually seen in middle age group. You should be investigated with EMG NCV of involved nerve To confirm diagnosis. Treatment initially is neuro vitamins and pregalin. Avoid wearing tight pants. If this is not beneficial injection depomedrol under ultrasound guidance at lateral aspect of groin fold is required. Last option is surgical release of nerve by cutting inguinal ligaments at its lateral end. All the best.
