What Causes Bumps And Itching Sensation On Skin After Having Tattooed?

Small bumps under three week old tattoo (red in color) that itch. Researched it. It s common. Highly doubt it s an allergic reaction. Stopped using unscented lotion and aquaphor for a couple days. Washing it twice a day with anti bacterial soap. Bumps are fading, still slightly itches. Possibly cause by over moisturizing/medicating. Moisturizers/ ointment possibly healed under pores. Thoughts?

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have bumps and itching sensation on skin after having tattooed which seems to be due to dermatitis. This can be allergic reaction due to exposure to allergen or due to contact with an irritant. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to apply cold compresses for face several times a day. Take anti allergic drug like benadryl or zyrtec. Apply sunscreen while going outside. Avoid dry environment. Keep yourself hydrate by drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day. Consult dermatologist for proper examination and start treatment after proper prescription. Doctor may prescribe oral anti allergic drugs and topical steroids.
