What Causes Bulky Stools After Undergoing Intestinal Surgery?

I had a partial colectomy in May which was done laproscopically and caused an abdominal hernia for which I had another surgery. Recently I developed a small blockage in the small intestine which was treated in hospital, with drips. Which they said could be an adhesion. Used to be constipated in the past which has worsened but now I often have bulky stools at times and have been advised by the gastroentologist to have Miralax or Colace every night. My Primary card Dr. Says the reason is that my colon does not contract normall Was also given an antibiotic called Xifaxan for 7 days as I complained of gas moving in my stomach especially after dinner as well as 1 Pepcid at night . Do not want to get my colon used to this as I feel it may be addictive and I would become dependent. Not sure if these symptoms are related to the obstruction or if it is IBS which the doctor thinks it is. Has put me on a low fiber diet as well as a lactose free and FOD diet which is difficult as I am a Celiac. Wondering if it is due to gastritis or an ulcer but he says No as it did not appear in the Endoscopy he did prior to my surgeries and I do not take anti- inflammatory meds. Or alcohol. Please advise.

Hello dear

Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.com
I have evaluated your query thoroughly .

* This seems in relation with length of colon adjusting to the stool
formation absorption of water and electrolytes with gut flora mechanics
mediated characteristics .

* Have to get adjusted with certain physiology post surgery , if it is not
problematic or much bothersome .

Regards .
