Hello,

There are chances of injuries to knee ligaments which is more commonly seen in football players. Firstly, he should be given first aid. RICE therapy. R-Rest, I-Ice application in first 24-48 hours. C-Compression by applying knee creep bandage and limb elevation if swelling is there.

Tablet Naproxen 500 mg twice daily to relieve the pain. If pain, swelling persists for more than a week then I would advise you to undergo X-ray of affected knee joint AP and lateral view and MRI of affected knee joint. I hope you have got the path to proceed further.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
