What Causes Brown Vaginal Discharge After Missed Periods?

I had a period on sept. 27, 2014 after 109 days without a period. I am normally 37-42 days. I seen the doctor after 45 days and the pregnancy test came up negative. I have ended my period 7 days after sept.27th. I am now getting cramps starting on Oct.. 18th. I noticed that after I have gone pee and wiped I have faint brown. This has gone all weekend till this morning when I woke up and there was a dark brown sport the size of a quarter in my underwear. I am having some cramps to. I has had sex on the 13th of Oct. Can you please help me get a idea what is wrong.

Hallow Dear,

Your pregnancy test results were negative. However, the test was performed too early. Your menstrual cycle has variation from 37 to 42 days. Hence, pregnancy test on day 45 was just 3 days after the missed period. These tests provide reliable results a week after the missed period; earlier they may report false negative results. Hence, please repeat the test now on overnight morning first urine sample.

If the test results are still negative, the spotting you are experiencing could be an indication of starting the menses. Overnight stain of blood on the panties will turn brown.

If you do not start your menses, you may take some progestational preparation like Deviry for 5 days with your Gynaecologist's advice. Then within 4-7 days, you should get withdrawal bleeding; if not please report to your Gynaecologist.

If the test diagnoses you to be pregnant, this bleeding is sign of threat to the pregnancy. In that case, get ultrasonography done to find out the integrity of the pregnancy. Report to your Gynaecologist ASAP. You may need some progestational support to stabilize the pregnancy.

If the baby is non-viable, then it is a missed abortion which will require evacuation of the uterine cavity.

You had sex after all these events. So it cannot be the cause for the bleeding; however, please avoid sex till the final diagnosis is made.

I hope this helps you.
