What Causes Breathlessness And Panic Attack In A 9 Year Old Girl?

My 9 year old daughter has no other symptoms except for complete breathlessness after coughing to the extent that she panics because she can t get any air for a short period afterwards I have taken her to the hospital emergency and they have sent me home with ventolin but are saying it s not asthma and not croup

Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, the likely drop in saturation might be because of lung infection, and temporary as well as reversible. It's better to remain admitted as indoor patient with oxygen support until infection can be controlled with antibiotics and supportive therapy. Meanwhile daily X-ray and blood gases monitoring might be needed. Inflammatory markers as well as blood counts may be needed too to monitor the progression.
