What Causes Breathing Difficulty While On A CPAP Machine?

I am 57 years old male nonsmoker. I have a problem with breathing. And my heart rate and blood pressure go really high I went to see a heart dr. Had alot of tests done because of heart disease in my familyallhe could see was a thickening of my heart muscle. I am now seeing a lung dr. Had a ct scan done which showed nothing. My breathing probles have got worse. I gasp for air off and on just watching TV I use a cpap machine which I I hate but know in the mornings I prefer to leave it on. More of a peaceful feeling breathing. Drs . just say I DONT KNOW. ??????
