What Causes Breathing Difficulty While Laying Down With History Of Heart Disease?

I ve been having some difficulty breathing but only when I lay down to go to sleep. I am also quite fatigued (but that could be because I m not sleeping well). I have a heart disease so I am slightly concerned that it might be related to my heart but don t have any other symptoms.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
hello,
i can understand your concern. i would like to know if you get breathless at rest or on exertion.
i would like to know the heart disease you have been suffering from and the medication you have been using for them.
in conditions like congestive heart failure and lung diseases like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease there is difficulty in breathing while lying down.
a thorough examination is required along with an chest xray, 2d echo and ecg based on which the treatment can decided.
i would suggest an appointment with a cardiologist for the same.
this can be managed easily with medications so you need not worry.
for time being you can elevate the head end to 45 degrees. this would relieve the breathlessness you are having. a steroid inhaler like formoterol two puff twice a day is also suggested.
hope you are satisfied with the response.
do revert back for further queries.
thanks for choosing HCM
