What Causes Breathing Difficulty When Suffering From Tumor In Lung?

Have had 3 ct scans to the chest area since feb of this year, i am told i need to repeat it again in sept. The results show i have a tumour 1 inch big in the lower right lung (under breast) my doctor put me on zithromicin for 10 days as i am bringing up green thick phlegm. Have been complaining of experiencing fullness under my left rib and now have fullness across both ribs, with back pain in the morning. My chest feels tight, trouble breathing even taking two puffs of symbicort, have been on this medication for years for bronchitis, twice daily, as needed.

My doctor wants to wait for the results of my 4th ct scan before seeing a specialist to get a biopsy in case it is cancer. I'm just wondering if i should ask to see a specialist sooner then later.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your situation and problem.
In my opinion, you should definitely consult pulmonologist.
Following are the possibilities in your case.
1. Worsening of bronchitis.
2. Worsening of lung mass (enlargement)
3. Pulmonary embolism.
So you need repeat PFT, CT Pulmonary Angiography.
PFT will tell you about severity of bronchitis. According to the severity, you may need additional bronchodilators.
CT Pulmonary Angiography will diagnose Pulmonary embolism if present.
It will also tell you about size of the tumour whether increased or not.
So better to consult pulmonologist as soon as possible and discuss all these.
Hope I have solved your query.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
