What Causes Bowel Incontinence While On Ambien And Trazadone?

I had esophageal cancer 4 years ago which included a total esophagectomy. I had post surgery complications with leakage that nearly killed me. Somehow got anxiety and could not sleep while in hospital and was prescribed Ambien and Trazadone. shortly after I got out of the hospital I defacated in my sleep and did not know until I woke up and have only defacated a few times after that until the last few nights I have defacted every night for 4 nights in a row, Can someone explain to me why this is happening and I m not aware that i m doing this while I sleep until I wake up ?

Hello,
Thanks for the query.
It is not related to ambien or trazodone. Most often it could be due to excessive anxiety.
You can consult your psychiatrist and he will help you further. You may require additional anxiolytics drugs for symptomatic relief.
As of now avoid hot and spicy foods and you can go to toilet just before going to bed and check whether any changes in symptoms or not.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
I find this answer helpful
