What Causes Body Tremors And Elevation In The Heart Rate While On Xanax?

I have been suffering from very bad anxiety issues for the past 6 weeks. I have been seeing a psychologist and my symptoms really haven t gotten much better. I would like to seek out hypnosis. I need something done sooner than later. I get uncontrollable tremors, my heart races and I cannot sleep. I ve been on Xanex 0.25 twice a day for the past month and I don t think that has helped either. Please help!!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

In addition to seeing a psychologist and the use of Xanax, you may need medication that is specific for anxiety and/or depression. The Xanax and that family of medications are not recommended for long term use and do not help as well as the SSRI and other medications. Your psychologist may be able to refer you to someone who can help with the hypnosis.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
