What Causes Blurred Vision And Narcolepsy While On Gabapentin?

I have been taking gabapentin for tri geminal neuralgia for 6 months and although it had made sleeping at night difficult (I am wide awake from 3am onwards) I seem to have developed cataplexy/narcolepsy and blurred vision in the day, which is very difficult at work. Is there a proven link between these symptoms and gabapentin as never had them previously.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Cataplexy / Narcolepsy is not a known side effect of Gabapentin. Definitely it may cause dizziness, drowsiness, tiredness and loss of coordination. Definitely blurred vision is a known as a side effect because of Gabapentin.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Satnarain Bansal, General & Family Physician
