What Causes Blue-green Color Stool With Stomach Cramp?

My wife had severe stomach cramping yesterday. It persisted throughout the day, lessening when she had a massage. Later, after dinner w/her family, she passed what she described as a bright green (almost blue-green) stool, after which her cramps ceased. Is there any cause for concern? Is this common or the result of the consumption of any particular food? Thank you for your kind attention in this matter.

Hi,

Thanks for your question.

After going through your question, I can understand your concern.

There is likely possibility of stomach infection or food poisoning in her case.

As she is symptomatically better now she may not require immediate medical treatment.

- Maintain adequate hydration by drinking plenty of water with electrolytes.
- Avoid spicy, oily food.
- Have bland food like curd, rise, bananas.
- If pain reappear use antispasmodic like Buscopan.

- If there are loose motions and fever there may be need for antibiotic and further evaluation may be needed.

Hope this helps you, if so do vote as helpful.
