What Causes Blood Mucous Discharge After Sinus Surgery?
Hi. I just had my sinus surgery 20 days ago(almost 3 weeks). About a week ago(until now), i had a flu. lot of mucous produced and cover up my breathing airways. Whenever i cough to clear my throat or blow my blocked nose, a blood mucuos comes out. I told my doctor and he said it s normal from the surgery. Is it really normal even after 3 weeks? And usually how long it will takes for the blood from the surgery to completely gone?
Hi, read and understood your history of Sinus surgery 3 weeks ago and the attack with flu about a week ago. It is usually not normal to have blood after so long. The attack of flu must have changed all the mucosa again to go into inflammation and cause bleeding on straining and coughing. Do not worry. I would advise you to first relax as this is not a complication but a sequel which has lengthened due to attack of flu. I would give you appropriate antibiotic cover to protect from infection, topical decongestant as well as oral decongestant and steroid in spray and oral from to have faster recovery. You will be fine soon. Till you get cured, I would like you to take bed rest, keep away from irritants and relax.
