Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Blood In Urine And Frequent Urination?
I have had several urine tests over the past couple of weeks showing microscopic blood in urine along with white blood cells. (first test was routine). All urine cultures done after each urinalysis have shown no growth. Latest test was a cytology which was negative. Looking to see what the cause might be if not a UTI. Symptoms are frequent urge to urinate however difficulty passing. Feel a lot of pressure but no pain. Next test being scheduled is a renal ultrasound workup.
Hello, I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns. The symptoms you have mentioned suggestive of urinary calculi(Stone anywhere along your urinary tract) It could be either in kidney, bladder, or urethra. We have to rule out other conditions like enlarged prostate(only in males!!) and bladder cancer as they also present with similar symptoms. I suggest you to consult a urologist for further evaluation. You have to do an ultrasound abdomen and pelvis to look for any renal stones. If no stones are visualized, then a non contrast CT scan may be needed. If there is any diagnostic confusion, rarely you may require a biopsy to make an exact diagnosis. As of now drink plenty of water.Avoid red meat. Hope I have answered your query. Wishing you good health.
Regards. Dr.Shinas
