What Causes Blood In The Saliva?

I have been laying down in bed relaxing when I sat up for a minute and all of a sudden tasted blood in my mouth. I went to the bathroom to spit it out and noticed that my saliva was a pinkish color. I asume it is blood and was wondering what could cause it?

Hi,

Blood in saline can be due to many causes. Most of the times it's due to local causes like an injury to teeth, gums or palate.

Rare causes include systemic bleeding disorders and bleeding from the posterior nasal cavity. It is advised to meet your doctor to rule out there local and systemic causes.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
