General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* Most common cause of blood in stool is a haemorrhoid, secondly, other intestine issues can be considered.

* Primary evaluation with a consultant surgeon by OPD procedure called as proctoscopy examination is a must for haemorrhoid checkup.

* Do not neglect as there is no pain, as this may lower your haemoglobin to significant levels.

* Later on if required one may have to undergo colonoscopy if there are no haemorrhoids responsible for the blood in the stool.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Internal Medicine Specialist Dr. Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu's  Response
Hello,

Blood in the stool may be due to hemorrhoids or fissures or fistula or infection or vascular ectasia etc.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.

Use tablet pantoprazole.

Eat high fiber diet and drink plenty of water. Avoid straining while defecation. If symptoms not improved please consult your surgeon he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
