What Causes Blood In Phlegm After Wisdom Tooth Extraction?
Hi I had a wisdom tooth extraction yesterday I woke up this morning feeling a bit fluey in my throat (surprisingly because I'm only over the flu) and I coughed up some blood today but when I checked the area where the tooth was its not bleeding so I'm worried its not my tooth or is it possible it could be in my throat from when it was taken out ?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain blood in phlegm after wisdom tooth extraction is commonly seen due to bleeding from the extraction site and if the bleeding is little then it is nothing to be worried about,,
So as you might have spitted there must be negative pressure inside the mouth leading to bleeding but it is not necessary that the bleeding will be continuous..
Secondly soreness in throat can be due to inflammation in throat caused due to inflammation originating from wisdom tooth site caused due to trauma to the soft tissues caused during the extraction procedure..
I would suggest you to wait and watch if there is repeated blood in spit and in case if it occurs you should consult your Dentist and get evaluated.. As of now avoid spitting with pressure.. Take soft diet and avoid drinking anything using a straw.. Avoid smoking if at all you do..
Hope this information helps..
Regards.
