Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had a lower left back pain for a little while. I thought it may have to do lack of flexibility exercises along with lack of exercise. But recently I have noticed my underwear blood soiled in the area of the tip of my penis. After urinating today I noticed a couplo of dark red drops of blood come out of the ned of my penis. Any thoughts?
Blood after urinating may be due to urinary tract infection, renal stones or due to some prostate issue in males. Urinary tract infections damages the lining epithelium of the urinary tract and leads to bleed from the arterioles beneath the epithelium. Kidney stones can cause blood in urine, if there is obstruction and injury of the urinary tract extending from the calyces til the urethra. Renal stones are associated with abdominal pain, back pain, vomiting, urinary frequency, urgency and burning micturition.
Prostatitis is the inflammation of the organ can cause blood in the urine. In old age there is chance to prostate cancer. Urine routine analysis, ultrasound abdomen and blood investigations are necessary to find out the pathology. The management depends on the cause for bleeding. Medical management is available for mild to moderate conditions. Surgery may be needed, if the medical management fails.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
