What Causes Blood And Mucus In My Stool?

I have been nauseous for almost 2 years now and recently found quite a bit of mucus in my stool and I think worms as well. I have been dealing we anxiety and depression around the same period of time. I had my blood and stool tested recently in an emergency but they had no answer to what is causing all these symptoms. I started taking a couple supplements that a compounding pharmacist recommended (deglycyrrhizinated Licorice extract and a probiotics) I felt better for a couple days after taking them. But then again the symptoms are back. I am still taking both supplements. I really would love to know your say about my situation. Anyways, I lived in the Philippines for 4 years in case that would have something to do with it. Thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi thanks for contacting HCM.

According to your complaint you might have.....
-parasitic infection
-colitis
-anal fissure
-Inflammatory bowel disease (if abdominal discomfort associated)
-if diarrhea associated esp after gluten rich diet celiac disease can be there.

As in your stool report no conclusive report means no pus cell there and so chance of bacterial dysentery less.
Stool examination needed for 3 times to exclude parasitic infection like amebiasis.

For rule out anal and rectal causes proctoscopy done...

Ornidazole antibiotic can be taken.
For few days avoid non veg and junk food.
Fruits more....

More water....

If still no benefit then dear colonoscopy and biopsy needed to exclude inflammatory bowel dz and microscopic colitis....

Take care.

Hope your concern solved.
