What Causes Bloating After Abortion?

Hi, I terminated a pregnancy over two months ago, and ever since then it seems like my stomach has been growing and getting bigger. Although I know i am not pregnant anymore. I just wanted to know if this was common or if I should be worried about it. Thanks

Hello,
If the completion of the abortion was confirmed by an expert and a follow up trans-vaginal sonogram performed to see if there are any retained products, then the feeling of bloating may be physiological. If you did attain regular menstruation, it may be related to some gastro-intestinal cause or weight gain. If you did not receive a normal period subsequent to the abortion, the symptom may be hormone-related. Please see a specialist for a proper appraisal of the situation and further management. Hope this helps.
